Coda di Volpe Grape

The Coda di Volpe white grape variety is grown in the Apulia and Campania regions.
Its history dates back to Roman times when mentioned by Pliny the Elder in his “Naturalis Historia”. Coda di Volpe (Foxtail) which, without making a great effort of the imagination, takes its name from the long and tapered shape of the ripe pine cone, as well as from the generally charged color of the wine, similar, in fact, to that of a fox, the terror of those farmers who still possess a chicken coop.
Coda di Volpe is widespread in all the Campania provinces, with the exception of the Salerno area. It is the basis of the monovarietal wine of the DOC Sannio and participates in the ampelographic base of the DOC Sannio Sottozona Solopaca Classico.

Characteristics of the wine

The Coda di Volpe vine gives a straw yellow colored wine with golden reflections, a fresh and fruity aroma with notes of pineapple and apricot, a full, round, intense fruity and very persistent flavor.
